WASHINGTON — The National Park Service is shutting down public access to the Washington Monument until Jan. 24, citing threats surrounding Joe Biden’s inauguration.
The agency said Monday that it was implementing the temporary closure “in response to credible threats to visitors and park resources.”
Meanwhile, the National Guard says it will increase troops in DC to at least 10,000 by Saturday to boost security ahead of inauguration.
Park officials say that groups involved in last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol are continuing to “threaten to disrupt” Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20. As a result, officials are shutting down tours at the Washington Monument beginning Monday, running through Jan. 24.

You know, for a guy that won more votes than anyone else in history, they sure are worried about something. Maybe Lee Harvey Oswald’s third cousin, twice removed was planning something.

Locals like us never go there anymore, especially since this summer’s violence. Less people eating in restaurants, not to mention COVID. You’ll also see nothing but homo men, scampering about, holding hands and doing God knows what else.
It’s becoming the next San Francisco.

I suspect the purpose is to show the military strength that will confront any dissidents on jan 20 or in the future.

I was there for the first time as an adult in the early 1970’s and also enjoyed it. I still remember sitting in a Supreme Court case being heard and the questions from the Justices.
Went back several times in the late 80’s and early 90’s on various business trips and the glamour was not what it had been.
Biden could give a 4-hour speech if he doesn't fall asleep.

I’m staying far away from that evil place. No desire to there to be framed and thrown in jail. Whatever discretionary income I have will be spent here in Florida. I will cancel them any way I can. Tuning them out and ignoring the fraudulent administration will get under their skin more than arguing with brain dead liberals on Twitter. Just going to sit back with my popcorn and watch the blue cities crash and burn.
