It all depends on the manufacturer, version of the OS and more. Remember, do it at your own risk...however, I have done it wrong before and the worst was reinstalling everything after fulll erase. Also, it voids your warranty..

The forum can get real confusing though, and they've gone to a new shitty format instead of the old bbcode-style forum that was easy to read. But, if you can find what you're looking for, they're great.
