In your discussion yesterday you indicated that you might be moving to Linux specifically as a boycott move. I thought I might take the time to expand on it and to see what others are saying and thinking. You can’t be the only one doing this, or the only one who’s had this kind of idea connecting the two.
Oh, wow, man, I must be trippin'... It's like Deja Vu all over again.
Yep, this time fer shure... Hey, ya never know...
*TECH PING* ??
Linux on my portable.
What shall we do for our tablets and phones?
I have been on Linux for some time now. Wife is still on MS Windows but we may be moving off of that now.
Though I’m not a rabid Linux person, I use it on occasion. The Linux desktop has existed for years now. You could get Dell’s with Linux pre-loaded for many years now.
I have Linux running just fine on a Surface 2 Pro, and have seen it on Surface 3s as well. It’s ironic, but everything works out of the box just fine.(Must be x86)
For your phone, hopefully you have one that would accept a LineageOS ROM file.
Leave Amazon and find your stuff elsewhere.
I have been a Linux Admin for decades, but my desktop of choice has always been mac. But before you all get out the pitchforks... I have switched to a Ubuntu desktop. Easy transition now that most Microsoft business products either work native, or are web based and somewhat usable on Linux.
How about stop supporting the control freaks.... move on and do something different.
AWS, FACEBOOK, TWITTER with traffic. These people respond quickest to changes in revenue. 25%-35% of the users giving up the platform sinks Facebook and Twitter.
AWS rents computers, kill 25% of their markets are and they are stuck with a ton of ewaste chewing electricity and cooling.
No more blue checks and libturds will make your life better. Time to retool with new platforms and new ways to share, talking to people about how bad the direction of the nation is on. Explaining that there are two paths ahead, one is to give the nation to the leaches, and the other is to scale back goverment to historical norms and expand the economy with growth and jobs.
Tech Ping
Been on Linux fir over 10 years...no great techy....I run Mint
Most distro’s come with at least 1 of every imaginable programme and if u need others there are web tutorials/explanations to take u through it.
It’s super fast, super stable, will run for months and never lose speed.....a small contribution to the makers and tr off and running....plus it is almost virus/bad guys free.....
In short it is wonderful
As those of you who don’t work in the industry will soon find out, “Small Tech” is just as rabidly leftist as Big Tech.
Linux?
I was Linuxed in 1994.
In almost all forms it beats MicroShaft as an operating system.
And today the issues of drivers, printers, and software is all but disappeared.
The issue today is ISP service and security (VPN).
And privacy will become ever more important.
This Gorgeous New Linux Phone Ships With Ubuntu Touch And LineageOS
Just to be clear, I've been using "the Linux desktop" for two decades, at home and at work, albeit in conjunction with other platforms out of necessity. There's very little that Linux systems can't do these days.
Linux certainly has matured enough to be a contender.
Desktop still runs Win7 but my laptops are on Linux.
I agree. I think the difference is, small tech gives it to you for free so you never ever have to subsidize the democrats.
When you buy a Mac, iPhone, or subscribe to Microsoft’s or Amazon’s or any others’ services, how much of that money goes to Nancy Pelosi? You know some of it is. Ok, so maybe its Schumer and not Pelosi.
The point is, you aren’t just buying a product. You’re buying left wing politics with your hard earned money. I didn’t make these rules, they did.
Is there a conservative friendly alternative to Amazon?
I have never used Amazon. Several younger family members are attached to Amazon Prime and they get on their computer or phones to order stuff if I mention I have something on my "to do or to get list."
"It will be here tomorrow Mom."
