we know how the military and infact most things work....to get ahead you have to schmooze...play golf...have a good looking wife to usher around...have that banter down to a science...

so inept people with few actual skills except gift of the gab get promoted by equally inept people....

saw this in the military all the time...wimps usually win because they're so "nice"..

This is something I failed to learn in my corporate career. It doesn’t necessarily matter if you don’t seem to be doing very well, sometimes if you just hang around long enough you’ll get promoted and nobody will care what was happening before.
