I was there 2001-2004.
I saw the night shuttle launch that wound up disintegrating on re-entry. We were on top of the 4 story building right on A1A. (It was the panoramic view of Major Nelson going to work in I Dream of Jeannie)

We could watch launches from our house (it was right next to Satellite Beach High School).
My husband was with Air Force Eastern Test Range and flew on the ARIA aircraft. He participated in Apollo 15, 16, 17, all of the Skylab missions and Apollo/Soyuz.
He served there under three of the Viet Nam POWs that returned in 1973.
