If you know how to update your /etc/hosts file you make make an entry in it so you can still type www.freerepublic.com

probably wouldn’t hurt to add an entry to your hosts file on your computer. when you point to the IP, the server flips it back to the DNS name. this will cause issues if they block the DNS for FR.

for us Linux, and Mac guys: vi /etc/hosts

Windows:
1. Press the Windows key.
2. Type Notepad in the search field.
3. In the search results, right-click Notepad and select Run as administrator.
4. From Notepad, open the following file: c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.
5. Make the necessary changes to the file.
6. Select File > Save to save your changes.
