Ever hear of aerial refueling? The "doomsday" planes (there are 4 of them) are designed to be refueled on the fly by KC-135s. They, by definition, need to stay in the air indefinitely if necessary. These planes have full crews of 112+ people and can sleep the same amount. There are contingency pilots aboard at all times.
