I seem to recall that this subject came up once before in our country's history; I don't recall exactly when, but if I remember correctly, the answer was a pretty emphatic "no" to the idea.

Yes...but my prediction is that the second that the majority of people realize that there will never be another fair national election, the secession will begin in short order!
