Defeat means you quit, and you’ll always regret that. Getting killed while fighting just means the other guy got a good shot at you before you got one at him.

While for all four years of his presidency they attacked him, vilified him and spewed their hate and lies because he wasn't part of their deep state of corruption. And they didn't want to be exposed with their hands in the cookie jars making millions for themselves while doing nothing for America.
