Third parties have been tried, and failed. It’s hard to build the infrastructure to prevail. It is much easier to take over control of the GOP, and THAT is what we should be doing.

It is not as easy as you think. The party apparatus and its funding sources are deeply intrenched. You couldn’t blast them out if you dropped a MOAB on them.
The party is ABSOLUTELY controlled by monied interests who pull all the levers. The GOP despised Trump and did everything they could to remove the unwanted “outsider”. The forces that control the GOP are formidable and will not be easily displaced.
Reforming the GOP is a pipe dream and an exercise in futility. Reagan couldn’t change the party and neither will Trump. The party is what it is. And I say that as someone who has people close to me who have worked inside several GOP organizations at the national level.
And consider that in this case a third party will quickly revert back to being two parties because millions of people will vacate the GOP overnight rendering it an insignificant shell of a party. Plus, I disagree with you that it’s hard to build a party infrastructure. With a potential supporting base of 70+ million people you can get things done pretty quickly. On Trump time! ;)
