Watch What Some Thought Was a Werewolf Captured on Video in Yellowstone National Park
KROC ^ | December 30, 2020 | Doc Holliday, Eric Meier

This video captured in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park was shared by Siddharth Gandhi Photography a few years ago. After seeing the video, some claimed this was proof of werewolves or the return of dire wolves based on the size of the creature.

The photographer mentioned this was a black colored gray wolf caught on video in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone. Last time I checked, there were over 13,000 comments and over 10 million views.

While the video left many with a sense of awe seeing a majestic, and rare endangered gray, others that another reaction based on Facebook comments:

Wolves just don't walk up to lights on a road. Whats the deal?

That's a werewolf!

Looked like a dire wolf which are supposed to be extinct

Grey Wolf? That thing looks like a freaking baby direwolf

Very cool! Looks like a "Hound from Hell"

While werewolves may be fantasy, one author took the mythic creature and setting to craft a horror tale, Ted Stetson's Werewolves of Yellowstone can be found for download on Scribd.

Cathy gets a job at the park and becomes entranced by Blake. Danny and his parents are stalked by a crazy man.

So now that you've seen the video, what do you say, a well-fed gray wolf, or something else?

People don’t realize just how big wolves are. They’re very tall on all 4’s and their bodies can be 5-6 feet from butt to the back of the head. So add in the nose and tail and its a huge beast!.

When someone says werewolf, I think of a cryptid standing on 2 feet with a canine head standing 7+ft tall.

I would expect a dire wolf to be the size of a small horse-14 hands.

A pack was identified a few hours from us. The police went door to door in the entire town and told people to not let their pets or young children be alone in a yard.

They are common in the UP, and people shoot them.
The DNR is then on the radio requesting tips for finding the shooters. It’s still a federal crime here in the Great Lakes region to kill them.
We always laugh at the radio ads. Too funny.
Good luck with those tips.

These replacements for the extinct timberwolf are huge and far more aggressive. Thanks, ecoscum.

Between them and the overpopulated grizzlies, there are no elk herds viable today in the area.

I hate them both.

Sierra club pukes did this.

I didn’t know the definition of werewolf was “wolf.”

we threw out soem old stew meat in the edge of the woods near our house- one night i went out to have a smoke, and raccoons started up a ruckus- holy moley- they made 7 distinct sounds, all of them quite different- if i hadn’t known about raccoons, i woulda not known what the heck it was-

Sounded like pigs at one point grunting, mountain lion growl, monkeys or chimps when they are angry, even like a bigfoot sound they play on TV at one point too, a person screeching, then chattering like an otter, and finally like a raccoon lol-

Had i been walking through the woods after hunting, at dark, to go home, and didn’t have a light, and not known raccoons make weird sounds, and heard raccoons start in like that- egads- talk about having a heart attack-

You can hear the many sounds they make online- youtube has videos of them making all kinds of sounds-

Saw the video; it looked like a pretty normal wolf to me, just a darker pelt is all.

Yep, me too- it had a winter coat, fluffy, so made it look a bit bigger too- but nothing unusual- just a bit o nthe larger size, but wolves get quite large- didn’t look like a ‘super wolf’ to me
