Yeah, Mike Pence. Up until yesterday I was cutting him slack. Heard Levin talk about the unconstitutionality of the whole election and changed my mind.
It was a great deal to put on one person, but he took an oath.
In a way I feel badly for VP Pence; and, perhaps “major failure” better describes my feelings towards him than “backstabber.”
My opinion is that he has always been a GOP stalwart and a hard worker; but, he is a man of limited depth of thought, intellectual curiosity and introspection. Fate and history placed him in a position where he needed those qualities; and, lacking them, he utterly failed in the duty he was sworn to perform.
That said, he freely took that oath to God, the Constitution, and the Republic when he took the job. Many who took similar oaths have died or been horribly maimed for life defending their promises. All VP Pence had to do was to honor the requests from members of the various state legislatures involved and send the matter back to them for resolution. Sadly, he failed us all and left the Republic in a terrible quandary.
