I think is constitutional amendment would be required to make Washington DC a state.
I can’t see how it can be avoided. The District was established by the Constitution itself. I know the plan is to shrink the District down to places where the Government itself is, Congress, Supreme Court, the White House and perhaps government buildings and then grant statehood to the parts of the District where people live.
But then there’s the business of the 23rd Amendment which grants the District 3 Electoral votes. The Amendment itself doesn’t name the District but refers to it as “the district constituting the seat of government”. Don’t know how you get around it without passing an Amendment repealing the 23rd.
But then, the Constitution is a “living document” and SCOTUS found no problem finding the right to abortion and gay marriage in it, so who knows?

But if what you believe is true, then the violent overthrow of the government is the only option left. Do you believe that?
No, I do not believe that. If we tried that, as soon as the gop, dnc and msm started calling us names, we would slink away in shame. We have already seen that.

The Virginia part was ceded back a very long time ago. Only the Maryland part is now the District. From what I’ve heard, Maryland doesn’t want it back. And let’s face it, it would be up to Congress to make it happen. Republicans can’t do it because it would be ‘racist’ and dems wouldn’t do it because they want the two certain Senators that D.C. statehood would provide.
