Most of the midwest, not large cities, we can get by on a paltry $2000 a month. That’s not hard money to make, but we’ve got to have access to the work

I live in a midwest metro area of about 200K people. Living on $2K per month is/was doable. The people that are getting hammered are in the hospitality and travel industries. Even during regular recessions these employment segments weren't hit as hard. Indoor dining just opened up after 2 months of being closed. I think half of the hotels in town have been mothballed. Over half of flights at the airport have been discontinued, so that means slim pickings for taxi and ride sharing drivers, etc...

I think he’s a liberal. But he’s a moderated, old-fashioned liberal, in the mold of my late grandparents — and what I used to be — but not a Marxist. JMO.
