I have a house in Northern WI and I have seen wolves many times. I don’t really understand the hatred for these animals, honestly I think they keep the deer, ground hogs and other animals in check.

They keep livestock in check as well. Depredation payments in WI run around $200,000 a year, and it’s not easy to prove your livestock was killed by a wolf rather than coyote or feral dog.

My guess since they’re no longer endangered at some point the depredation payments will end. Minnesota reverted to their pre-endangered laws yesterday, meaning you can kill a wolf to protect your property or pet, in much of the state preemptively. I’m sure WI and most states where they’re present will do something similar.
