When I was studying, I put the sample tests from the ARRL on my ipad and iphone. And I literally sat there watching TV at night (my wife watches basketball and I am ambivalent) taking the test. Over and over and over. I did that for all three tests.
I was able to memorize the answers (there IS a method to memorization) and pass all three tests in three consecutive Wednesday nights.
Then I spent the next two years learning this stuff.
Thank you for the feedback! The toughest part at this point is finding somewhere to take the exam in person. Not wanting to depend on the government (ANY government - federal, state, or local) to ensure we have effective communication.
LOL! Nice job! There are always alternative methods to getting the job done!!
I have an app on the iPhone called HamStudy. If searching in the App Store, it’s a blue icon with an antenna (shaped like a capital A in it). I like it. You can study for all three exams. Take multiple practice tests and even select specific areas of study. It’s basically all the current test questions and answers. They even explain answers as to the why or what of something. Nice app. Free at least to the technician level.
I took the Tech and General on the same day. Then about 2 months of cramming and passed the Extra exam. That was several years ago and Hamstudy didn't charge for the test exams. Don't know about now.
That’s what I’m doing. Rote memorization.
