I don’t see how it’s any of those things. Everyone knows that wearing a Star of David, a cross, a crucifix, etc., neither helps nor hurts anything. They’re symbols of a connection to something meaningful to someone. I wear a cross. Sometimes I wear a cross and a Star of David for solidarity.

People wear masks because they’re meaningful to them — for some bizarre reason.

MayflowerMadam, the comment was referring to how the Nazis forced Jews by law to wear a yellow Star of David patch before and during the holocaust. I believe he was alluding to clueless Jews in the 1930s arguing for other Jews to wear the patch because it was the law.
