I suppose so. Except that most tech companies like Apple and Microsoft are VERY much in the leftist camp. I’m not sure your contention that anyone can write a program and sidestep progressive politics that way really works. Apple can ban your app from the App Store. Microsoft can sue you into oblivion.

It’s the same with the idea that anyone can make a movie now. Moviemaking takes time. Who pays for the equipment, the actors, the sets? Who pays you during production while you’re not earning a living?

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but there’s a tough road ahead. The right gave up on culture, and here we are.

"I’m not sure your contention that anyone can write a program and sidestep progressive politics that way really works."

My thought was indirect. It's not "Program" > "sidestep", it's "Program" > "reduced funding".

Here's an example. Adobe (Makers of Photoshop) gives massive amounts of money to democrats every year. Simply having Photoshop or not on your computer doesn't really change anything in/of itself. But defunding Adobe is the direct absolute equivalent of defunding democrats. That's what I meant. In most instances, a software purchase or subscription is a donation to the DNC.

But most importantly, and I'm going to bold this because it's the important point, It's something that one single individual or a very small team of 2-3 people could proactively accomplish, and with a very low barrier of entry cost. As a slightly side thought, improving an existing open source program might be the better way to go toward defunding these tech thugs.

So its said, I only threw this out there, I do think we can do better. How many of us are programmers? That in/of itself is a high barrier of entry. But considering most barriers, we could do worse for options.

And I'm not just advocating some boycott. Yes, this is a path to defunding Big Tech, but it's the proactive view of attacking their funding stream that can be pursued, actively pursued, every single day, that's the point.

Hey, thanks for the dialog, I re-read your comment and realized that I failed to reply to this part of what you said.

"It’s the same with the idea that anyone can make a movie now. Moviemaking takes time. Who pays for the equipment, the actors, the sets? Who pays you during production while you’re not earning a living?"

What do you think about something like this as a long term project?
