It's a travesty that stewards and stewardesses have been reclassified as "flight attendants" and that stewards and stewardesses accepted the change. "Steward" and "stewardess" imply authority, responsibility, leadership and duty while "flight attendant" has a more menial connotation, as in "gas station attendant."

On Saturday, news broke that the Democrats are going to remove all gendered words from the House of Representatives. On Sunday, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a pastor, opened the 117th Congress with a prayer. At its conclusion, he said “amen,” and then added “a-women.”

What will they do when everyone is the same gender? They won’t be able to claim that women are paid 76% of what men are paid. They won’t be able to claim that men are rapists. They won’t be able to have women-only teams. They won’t be able to chant “first woman”! Facebook won’t be able to have 58 “genders.” Everyone will get the same pronouns.

They use gender distinctions when they can claim discrimination. Otherwise, they ignore them.
