Al Stewart was one of my three favorite musicians of my youth. (Also, Elvis Costello and Blondie—both in their earlier edgier incarnations).

I actually like his album Past Present and Future better than Year of the Cat. But I owned them both.

His was the first rock concert I went to, in 1976.

The same friends and I went to see him perform at a club in Seattle a few years ago. He was in his 70s, I think, but still going strong.

Agree on “Past, Present, and Future.” But I always lose interest after a high-brow artist scores a pop hit. Like ELO and “Evil Woman.” Music for the ignorant masses.

I was in my 3rd year of radio when it came out and played the radio edit. A lady friend bought me the album, which I still have. This was my summer soundtrack played from a cassette/radio in a an MGB. Good times.
