No, you’re wrong about that on two accounts. In a contingent election each state delegation casts a single vote; it has nothing to do with a majority of votes by representatives. Secondly, what the GOP does or does not do is not irrelevant. Their actions (on inaction) on this matter will define the party’s future. They either stand up for the country or they don’t.

Actually, you are incorrect. The only voters right now are the slated and approved by the state voters. There is no way for their votes not to be counted without a majority vote by both houses.

This is not a contingent election. A contingent election happens if neither candidate gets a majority of the electoral votes. With 2 candidates that can only happen if there is a tie. If there was a third candidate, a contingent election would be more likely.
