I’m with you guys. As a teen in the mid-to-late ‘80s without a TV in my room, I often listened to Larry King’s radio show. He was always a liberal, but I didn’t mind him. He was part of an earlier generation of liberals who disagreed with conservatives without constantly attacking or vilifying them. Someone once told me that Larry’s approach to interviewing was to do only minimal preparation so that he would have the same level of ignorance about his guests as his typical audience member had. That way, he’d be asking the same sorts of questions that his audience would be wondering about. I laughed when I heard that, but I suspect there was something to it. Prayers for LK’s speedy recovery.
I remember him saying that he would do not read a book prior to an interview. From there he would build the interview from scratch.
I learned a lot about baseball by listening to his show.
I met him once at the Winter Baseball Meeting
