I have had 2 that were spinning for years, just add oil from time to time,vacume the top side and clean the blades. Basic 3 speed reversible.
No remotes just pull chain
It doesn't get heavy or continuous use. I imagine that has contributed to its longevity. But when we're out there, the fan does its job. If you're looking and have a specialty shop available, at least take the time to talk to them. Or give Dan's Fan City (or another specialty shop, if you know of one) a call. Even over the phone, they'd be able to give you some guidance. As a specialty shop, they probably cover the whole product range and can talk tradeoffs. It's like going to a good local bike shop as opposed to a big box store for a new bicycle.
