Cancel culture is creating a Soviet-style society of liars

The public policy scholar Joseph Overton stated that an idea must fall within a certain range of acceptability to be politically viable. The Overton Window, as this concept has come to be known, describes the range of publicly palatable ideas at a given time, and it applies not only to politicians, but to the general public as well. Recently, however, the rules have changed. [snip] The Overton Window has become the Overton dartboard.

They knew what Tito did to the Nazis, and the Chetniks.

Well, They took care about other ruthless dictators. And they had like 10:1 military advantage. They even had some friends in Yugoslavia (see one of the previous posts)
They could run him over pretty easily!
I always felt that they sort of needed an enemy, so they could shoot people in their countries, and blame them on Tito? Kind of having Tito as a straw man. But, I do not know.

Now there is another theory that I heard floated, and that was it was all Kabuki Theater, with Tito made to look to be independent from Moscow, so as to gain favor with the “non-aligned” world, remember he was a Comintern agent from way back.

I believe Tito’s funeral still holds the records for the most Heads of State who attended.

Sounds true. They did not just killed people, but forced them to self confess to incredible crimes, they have never committed.
Unlike most other dictators, they forced people to praise and thank them for the abuse. There were no neutrals allowed.
E.g. Franco in Spain was ruthless and took care about all opposition. If you said something and he got wind of it, you were punished, ruthlessly! But if you just mind your own, you could live OK there.
The commies demanded a full verbal alliance. You have to go to parades, express support, thank party for all the goods, denounce traitors. No neutrality allowed.

Until the last years, when it was obvious to everybody that they are a dismal failure. They were still punishing dissent (see previous posts), but became more tolerant to the neutrals.
In their own words, they lost the revolutionary zeal.

The story of Milada Horakova, immediately comes to mind. They held a show trial and basically she refused to confess to the made up charges. They eventually executed her. There was a good movie about her on Netflix called "Milada", I highly recommend it.

That seems a possibility too. Thanks.

As far as funeral, apparently more dignitaries showed only on Mandela funeral.
Even sickly Brezhnev attended! And when he announced his decision, all the heads of Soviet satellites had to show up!
