Do wives of presidents automatically get security clearance? Siblings of presidents? Children? Grandchildren? Sons and daughters-in-law? Do they go through any type of security clearance background check?
If there a security clearance investigation of the president elect done pro forma, with the results filed somewhere, even though there is nothing that can or will be done with any actionable information?

If they need it they get. The President is in charge of the executive branch. The security process is an executive responsibility. If the President says need it they get it ! If the electorate elects someone of low character the nation gets what it gets !

Presidential candidates have been getting security briefings since the days of Truman. A President-Elect is a candidate that won. Again character matters, the nation elects a criminal the nation lives or dies with it.
This is why the Founding Fathers were so leery of direct democracy. There was not to be direct election of the President or Senators. (Senators for a different reason!) Over time “the people” vote themselves the contents of the treasury & elect criminals who promise them more access to the treasury (i.e., more tax dollars!).
