I was stationed in Philly on New Years 1968...
Went down town and saw the Mummers Parade...Thought I was having the worst hangover in history of man...Never seen anything like it....
:) Been there many times.Mayor banned them this year.They came anyway.I LOVE it.

I’m a little disappointed in the turn out. Anyone that is familiar with the mummers parade understand it is huge. Many people spend countless hours preparing their costumes and practicing throughout the year. I saw zero instruments and zero string bands. I suppose they took off the year. God bless those that did turn out.

They were probably afraid of violent confiscations. Police are all over the streets. The clown clubs have the cheapest costumes and can run the easiest.
