You mention demons, and it’s an apt comparison. I think of DC much like the movie “The Devil’s Advocate.” These people are elected to office and go in full force, but they soon realize how futile it is to try to buck the establishment. Few have the fortitude to fight. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz come to mind as a few who do fight, albeit less often as most would like.
Some good people slip through the cracks. You have to be very smart to deceive the deceivers.
