But Major League Baseball is the same now.
You see these bench/dugout clearing melee's over a player trash talking another or a fight breaks out when a batter gets hit with a pitch or a baseline runner thinks he was tagged out too forcefully. Like a bunch crybabies.
These are professionals. Grown men acting like testosterone enraged teenagers. It looks ridiculous and it's embarrassing.
I may be wrong but you don't see much fighting in the NBA. I don't know why because it is a pretty physical game with a lot of trash talking going on.
Football players have too much protective gear on for fighting on the field to be effective. But it happens.
I am not a professional sports fan because I've thought for a long time that it's just a bunch of thugs playing a game.
That's basically my problem. Thugs have a different definition of sportsmanship or have no idea what it is. Additionally, too many athletes have an inflated idea of their abilities and worth. They do not respect coaches and they are not team players. Granted, there are exceptions, but there are a lot of very average players that think they are God's gifts.
My real turn off however has been the ghetto nature of athletes. I have nothing in common with the vast majority of athletes. Then they bring their Marxist politics to the game.
As for your comment about hockey. I was okay with fighting back in the 70's to a point. I played hockey growing up and understood what it meant to have a weapon in your hand, sharp skates on your feet and no helmet on your head. It leads to occasional fights. Then it went too far. At least the NHL reined in that problem. I stopped watching hockey when the Flyers tore down the statue of Kate Smith over a song she sang back in the 30's. That was the last straw. Soon hockey will be filled with negroes playing and it will become a complete thugs sport like the rest of them.
I think that is a black culture thing since I see it constantly among the black softball players I play with....and they're seniors too.
A white friend of mine was recruited to play on a senior black softball team for a tournament a number of years ago and said he could not believe the trash talking that was going on between the two teams and fully expected a fight to break out at any time.......
He said he made a good catch in one of the games and one of his own players called him a bitch and another player had to tell him that was just a way of saying you made a great play.......LOL!
