(summer recipe. great for Independence Day.)
King’s Hawaiian buns are an important ingredient of Big Kahuna burgers. Excellent if your party is “Tiki themed”.
2 lbs. hamburger marinated in 4 Tbsp. Hawaiian style Teriyaki sauce for 20 minutes.
(Sauce is equal parts ketchup and brown sugar, with 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard. Simmered until sugar melts. Sounds ridiculous but tastes great on the burger.)
Grill burgers and pineapple slices at the same time. When burgers are about done, melt a slice of Provolone over them.
Brush liquid coconut oil on inside of King’s Hawaiian hamburger buns before toasting them on grill.
Add a slice of purple onion and tomato, then sauce the upper bun. Pickled and hot pepper slices optional.
(be sure to have lots of copies of the recipe for guests.)
“Tiki themed” have you not heard? SJW’s have declared Tiki bars as cultural misappropriation.
Seriously.
Hawaii is a great mash up of food cultures aint it?
