I am asking for prayers for my sweet friend Beth. She was recently diagnosed with early stages of dementia. Beth was a tremendous source of strength and courage for me when I lost my mother to cancer back in 1997. I tried to help her as she watched her own mother languish for several years as dementia took her piece by piece. Beth worked with my husband for over 20 years until recently when she had to retire due to "episodes" brought on by the same disease that took her mom. For Christmas, I made her what I hoped was a special gift. She had given me pieces of her mom's formal china because I had the exact same pattern- from my late grandmother. Knowing Beth loved birds as much as I do I made her a bird feeder out of a cup and saucer from her mom's china. I was not prepared for what happened after she received it. Last night I got a very emotional call from Beth thanking me for the gift. She said it brought back loving memories of her mom, some of which she had long forgotten. I am so thankful God used me to bring some happiness into her life. I have never, ever, felt the significance of an act of kindness like I did last night. Knowing I brought peace and love into someones heart was an experience I know came straight from God.
Bless you and prayers for your friend Beth.
Prayers Dementia is a terrible condition. I pray that doctors and research scientists can develop treatments.

In reality, most of the “benefits” of Keto also come from just a “lower carb” approach. Getting blood sugar and insulin to both work again in their normal manner is the key. That can also be done with constant exercise to burn off the carbs. Stop eating breads, sugars, and starches in favor of the most complex of carbs, found through Glycemic Index/Load tables. Limit artificial sweeteners, which were found to cause insulin release even in the absence of calories (for that matter, it's not clear natural sweeteners like monk fruit or stevia don't cause the same reaction).
There are supplements to help, but the biggest initial benefit is from diet and exercise changes getting rid of one's “fatty liver.”
She could see immediate improvements and limit any progression.
Being the Light in Someone’s Darkness
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I love that thought. I have decided to take up some meditation to help with stress. I care take my elderly parents & it’s getting difficult as mental issues are starting to pile up on physical ones. The 2nd meditation I listened to was about the Holiday Lights ... taking them ‘inside’ and letting them shine from within to the ‘outside’. That meditation has really stuck with me and now, with your words, it’s even more meaningful with deeper perspective. If you have a light that shines from within, whether it is faith, kindness, compassion ... you can indeed light someone’s darkness.
God bless ... you and your friend will be in my prayers.
Such a sweet and Dear post. Prayer is offered up for Beth and all others who are in need.
Totally agree with what you are saying.
If you want a reference, check out Amy Berger. While she is primarily focused on Alzheimers, the discussion of a low carb, high fat diet should be helpful. Also, since patients often have a combination of dementia and Alzheimers, the info could be very applicable. The ketones that come about on a low carb, high fat diet are very good for brain function.

Prayers up for Miss Beth
25 years ago Duke University was doing a lot of good research on meds to deter that part of aging. If not Duke, perhaps UNC Chapel Hill. It was one of the NC schools.
