We did things the Romans never dreamed possible, like making the poor the most likely to be obese. We are also the most passively entertained and the least used to strenuous physical labor outdoors.

Not that I am advocating anything n particular, but this could be retooled to support the contention that a timely, surgical, and decisive action in DC would encounter minimal resistance in flyover country.
