In the days after a man on their flight stopped breathing, fellow passengers wondered if he was infected with coronavirus – and whether they might be at risk. The airline said it didn’t know, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wouldn’t say publicly.
An answer didn’t come until a local coroner released a report a week later confirming that covid-19 was a cause of the 69-year-old man’s death on Dec. 14, along with acute respiratory failure. By Wednesday, three different passengers said they still hadn’t gotten official word from any public health authorities.
“I figured somehow they would get in touch with everybody, send out probably a mass email – at least to everybody who booked the flight – and say, ‘If you were on this flight, you should go get tested,'” said Robert Reeves, 53, who was a few feet away from the man as medical workers performed CPR in the aisle for roughly 45 minutes
Some airports and airlines have been requiring preflight temperature checks or offering preflight testing as they try to adapt to the new public health landscape. Testing offered by airlines is generally meant to help passengers meet entry requirements at their destinations or avoid quarantine when they arrive.
Neither temperature checks nor testing, of course, is perfect. Travelers could be asymptomatic or too recently infected to run a temperature. And someone could be infected but still test negative.
“Individuals can be pre-symptomatic or entirely asymptomatic,” he said. “In both cases those individuals are still infectious, and the symptom screening tools are completely ineffective.”

Asymptomatic people are not usually contagious for viruses, in my limited experience, but true for bacterial pathogens. However, PRE-symptomatic people may be contagious for viruses prior to their knowing they are sick.
I would love for another scientist or medical doctor to let me know that I am wrong in this regard, so that I can move on from my limited knowledge in what I recall from my prior micro studies.

They’re rigged in that there’s probably no chemical or agent even existing there. It’s more theater.
I have seasonal allergies as well, but besides an occasional sore throat, which is later in the game for me, my first symptom is itchiness inside my ears and nose and sinuses. I try to pay attention to the minor differences before the nasal drainage develops into a sore throat. Itchy in my ears, nose and sinuses usually mean allergy to me. If those aren’t there when I get a sore throat, then I usually change over to the idea that my nasal congestion could be the beginning of a cold.
I call those individuals PRE- symptomatic, not asymptomatic, and yes, I know of several people personally who this held true for.
One young lady I know was exposed at her job. Someone tested positive so they all got tested. Her first test was negative. A day or two later, she began her earliest symptoms. She felt like she was getting a head cold, and then had no taste or smell a day later.
When her fiancé started with a headache, she was retested and this time was positive. Two days later he tested positive also.
Both are over it now, and got to spend a late Christmas with their families.
In my mind, this is pre-symptomatic not asymptomatic spread. I would love to know if I am wrong in this assessment.

I have a relative who got covid at work..The night before he
came down with symptoms, he had people over at his house..Four people who were at his house the night beforedid not get sick,
So, a guy is so sick that he dies of “acute respiratory failure’ after getting on a plane and nobody had questions during the boarding process and it’s gasp, Covid! Suuuure.
And they push the pretty much debunked meme that asymptomatic spread is a serious issue.
