The bailouts were paid back, with interest. Will these checks be paid back, with interest? As part of those bailouts, stockholders like me lost their entire investments in companies like Washington Mutual and GM and bondholders were raped in favor of the unions. If the banks had collapsed, we would have seen a rerun of the Great Depression, with 30% unemployment, making the recent pandemic problems look like a walk in the park.

The bank bailouts were a bailout of the little people. While executives near the top benefited from them, with only the top men getting axed, the biggest beneficiary was the American working man, starting from assembly line workers at GM, who got to work another day instead of having their workplaces sold for scrap.
