We use ours quite often for quick fried meals. It's all a mater of what you try to cook in it. It beats the microwave hands down on breaded chicken patties, french fries, tater tots, etc.
Just don't try to cook bacon in it. Despite what the book says, you end up with limp bason strips and a house full of smoke. At least my ol' fry pan crisps it up before the smoke starts.

We use ours for bacon all the time. No smoke and I like that there’s no splatter. I do pull the pan out part way through to make sure it’s not sticking to the bottom and to rearrange the strips after they’ve shrunk a bit being partially cooked.
You just have to make sure there’s room for air circulation around the strips.
Works great!

IOW, it only fries over priced packaged foods.
No, thanks. I’ll continue to batter my own onion rings.

To me, the best way to cook bacon is in the oven. Line a sheet pan with foil, place the bacon in a single layer, put in a COLD oven and turn it on to 400 degrees. Set the timer for 15 minutes and check - it may take a bit longer but no spatter and clean up is easy with the foil. Just my 2 cents.
