Florida man arrested for tossing golf clubs at other drivers before punching trooper

TAMPA, Fla. - A North Port man was arrested after he allegedly tossed golf clubs from his van at other cars, then assaulted an FHP trooper who ended up having to use a stun gun on him.

Troopers say they received a complaint this afternoon about the driver heading northbound on Interstate 75, throwing golf clubs from his work van near the Sun City Center Boulevard exit.

When a trooper caught up with him near Fowler Avenue and pulled him over, they say the driver – later identified as Jonathan Edward Day – got out of the van clutching a golf club.

Dashcam from the arresting officer shows a white van being pulled over when he suddenly veers off the road and into a construction site.

Once stopped, the officer is heard several times yelling for the driver to exit his van and put his golf clubs down. The man gets out of the van, but has a golf club with him. As the officer tries to get him on the ground, the driver tries to flee, the video shows.

FHP said the driver then struck the trooper with a fist, and pulled at his uniform and radio. That’s when the trooper used his Taser to subdue him.

Fats Domino knew went He was in "Guard" Mode. We could simply tell Him to "Watch 'Em" and He was better than any door lock or car alarm. (The 2002 door locks were broken and were going to be a pain and spendy to fix.) In that mode He would only let Us get close to or into the car. Nobody else even if He knew who they were could get in the "zone" around the car. We could tell Him it was "OK" and He was just a big playful slobbering Puppy. Babies were His favorites because they would laugh and squeal when He licked them.

One time at a Family Dinner out we had several gallons of Margaritas by the pitcher for around 8-10 Adults with dinner.

As We exit the Mexican Restaurant one of the Cousins started going over to say Hi and pet Fat's. They had known each other for years but Fat's was in "Watch 'Em" mode. Well, drunk Cousin Dumbass was warned on his way over to the car Not to Do it but in his 'Rita-fied Wisdom filled condition kept going. He gets to the window and starts sweet talking to Fat's (who is in FULL CUJO MODE by this time) and puts his face in the window and Fat's bit him once through the upper lip and let go. Well 'Rita-brain yells out "He bit Me" and everybody said "You were warned not to do it and you already knew that was Fat's Job to guard the car. So don't blame Fat's"

If I played golf, I’d probably be throwing golf clubs too. Not at people or FHP troopers, but out of frustration.

One weekend, my brother was trying to get me into golf and invited me along. He teed up, took a swing and made a nice shot. "GodAlmighty, I FINALLY got that slice corrected. The pro told me to hold it this way and by god, it worked!" He was jubilant.

The next time he swung, the ball sliced into a rough area and he proceeded to rant and rave and throw the club down.

I told him I had enough aggravation in my life and did not want to add any more to it. The damn game was supposed to be relaxing.

He was out on the green the next weekend, I wasn't.
