As snow piles up in yards and parks across the United States this winter, many children will be hitting their neighborhood hills to sled on their days away from school.
Common injuries centered around the time-honored winter activity, however, have led some cities in the Midwest to put the brakes on sledding.

One of our rights of passage was holding the bar spark plug wire while a buddy pulled the rope on a mower

Your description sounds like a toboggan. No it wasn't a toboggan, it was a two runner sled approx. 4' long..........

Yes! And the children, regardless of age, would not be allowed to go down a hill, they can only ride on level ground while being pushed or pulled by an adult. One of the rules of the fictional Euphorians of Joe Soucheray’s Garage Logic.

We had 2 hills we used as kids. One across from us was steep and our goal was to get to the bottom and slide long enough to go across Bassett creek to our backyard.
The other was a longer run.
When I visited the old places some 16 years ago I noticed a snow fence was put in place and the steep hill has trees planted in the way so no sledding on either hill.
