Luke 2:10-14 (NKJV)
10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
The Christmas Eve sermon was about how difficult times make for a better story. Mary and Joseph and Jesus in the beginning. Born in a stable, fleeing Israel. Makes it a lot more relatable than some myth where God appears victorious at the start.
We all have our struggles. 2020 has been a struggle. The virus, the violence. But when we see God come through and bring Salvation out of all of it - that is what makes it so much better.
All that said, I pray that God will bring us out of it in a few weeks rather than 80 to 400 years.
