The only way you can do web searches with at least a bit of anonymity is to use the “TOR Browser Bundle” to do the searches...and try not to leave any clues (difficult).

VPN and Duckduckgo search engine works about as well as anything. Tor isn’t as secure as some people might think but it is better than a mainstream browser for security. I don’t think anything is secure anymore. If you’re online you’re exposed.

TAILS... Completely stand alone and isolated on it’s own stick with TOR included. Made by the same crew as TOR.

Folks shy away from the word “TOR”. But TOR is excellent as a general browser too. You do not have to go to .onion links in the dark web, it can be used just like any other browser for indexed sites.
