What if they’re done with volunteers, from population groups that are less vulnerable? It’s true that such people are less likely to die from giving them the virus, but it’s also true that much information is still produced about the efficacy of the vaccine in producing antibodies.

In any event, is it less ethical than what has actually happened without challenge trials?

Only problem is we wouldn’t be able to vaccinate the elderly right away if we did challenge trials with healthy folks under the age of 65.
