MEXICO CITY – The abruptness of the Mexican Government's red alert announcement produced exactly the opposite reaction it was seeking.
Millions of people dropped everything and rushed headlong to go shopping, with huge, close-proximity crowds everywhere.
The Federal Health Ministry announced more than 12,000 Covid-19 cases on Friday, which is the second highest daily total since the pandemic first hit Mexico in February.
Mexico City Hospitals are struggling with 85 percent occupancy, and the adjoining State of Mexico has 78 percent. Capacity for hospital beds is nearing maximum.
As of Saturday, only supermarkets will be open to sell food and essentials. So, Mexico City is due to become an errie ghost town.
Came into Mexico on May 4th and spent the next 10 days seeing almost no one(they left or went home) and no attractions what so ever were open...
Stupidest thing I ever saw....then 2020

Aren’t hospitals always busy during flu season?
Wait uno menudo (sp?). Didn’t El Presidente Labrador (sp?) just say the other day that such actions were that of dictators?
No Feliz Navidad?
Not to be overly critical, but I believethe title should read “malo”, not Mal.
Minuto
I would venture to say that if they are not busy most of the time they won’t be in business very long, at least in the US. Don’t know much about hospitals south of the border.
I guess I should say I thought they are busier than usual during flu season. It is well into flu season now so one would expect they should be very busy now?
I think Ciudad de Mexico is getting the strictest lockdown.
The beach areas and others that rely heavily on tourism are being kinder and gentler. Stores and restaurants have been doing temp checking/masking for quite awhile.
*Technically*, the MX border is closed to non-Mexican vehicular traffic. I have yet to hear of an American or Canadian being turned around. (That doesn’t mean it never happened but, if it became a thing, it would get around).
The Mexican people need our money. There is an endless flame war with the expat Karens living in MX telling Americans that their visiting or moving to MX right now is not “essential travel” and that they’re all “selfish”.
Expats are nearly always libtards. I guess conservatives stay and fight. Sort of.
My suggestion is that they check with the locals on this, particularly those who work in hospitality. They have a different take on “essential.”
Understanding that the WuBug survival rate is around 99.87% (per Rush’s non-Steyn fill-in guy), my favorite Karen quote is “Mask it or casket!”
still wrong...mal
Still bad...malo
The last dictator did the same thing in 2009
Shutup!
Reason?
Facts?
History?
You need to attend camp...
Struggling at 85% capacity? Shouldn’t they be capable of 100% capacity? And only struggling after that?
