Hans is a good guy who is on our side. (And his name is fun to say.) I’ve met him several times at various gatherings (CPAC, FedSoc, . . .) Take what he says and evaluate it on its face. Then maybe you can criticize him for what you wanted him to say.

I did and think he wrote a well-written article to cover up for him. There are many who are good solid conservative "ordinarily." But at the crunch time, they would opt for preserving their career. Their credibility among elite circle will remain in good shape. For ordinary conservatives, their credibility is shot.

You can tell them only so many times that they don't know what they are talking about. At some point, people start to believe they are being played. People are making the clear line of political demarcation now and it is not because all of them are stupid.
