I have been telling people they are coming for 401Ks. It is just a number on a piece of paper. Virtual, un-taxed, unrealized wealth sitting on the sidelines waiting to fund some Govt shortfall. Social Security is out of money in 2035.

There has been some talk about the government forcefully converting some or all 401k assets into long-term Treasury bonds. That bond money would then be immediately available to keep the Deep State running.
But it’s not theft, they’ll say. Your $200,000 account is still worth $200.000. The only difference is that now you only hold bonds paying maybe 2% per year.
