You reminded me of I use to walk by the loading dock where I worked. There were tractor trailers there all the time and I was always shocked to how bald the tires were on these trailers. Some flat spotting also. Scary to know these things are right beside you at 65 MPH or more on dry highways.

About 1984, I was driving to Little Rock on I-30. Sunday morning, no hurry and light traffic, so I was just toolin’ along about 70 in the right lane and letting the big rigs blow by me at 80-85. I was in my ‘82 280ZX, which is low profile, when the inner right tire on a trailer blew RIGHT BESIDE MY DOOR!
I almost fouled my clothing; it was like a bomb explosion! The big rig just kept going as though nothing had happened.
I kept control of my car and was really thankful it wasn’t the OUTER tire that had the blowout.
