If you give a name to an ordinary blizzard, does that make it more dangerous?

What’s up with the weather channel giving names to snowstorms in recent years? They want to name storms as if they were hurricanes??m

No, when they ‘name’ a storm it allows the sleazy insurance companies to apply a ‘blizzard deductible’ and pay out much less.

aka hurricane deductible in FL

It should be “gale” to indicate a severe windstorm below hurricane strength.

No, but it lets The Weather Channel and the local news outlets cover it 24/7 for several days before it hits and several days after.
