Nothinh 127 years of constant road work cantfix
It should be “gale” to indicate a severe windstorm below hurricane strength.
Good grief people. Its just friggn snow. Figure it out, its not rocket science. Its not like this storm came from nowhere, its been in the hyperventilating news for a week now.
One of the simple rules of driving in snow is that you cut your speed in half and double or even quadruple your stopping and following distance.
Dumbass drivers and their false sense of security in their 4WD SUVs...........To say nothing about the truckers who are always pushing the limit.
Even in Wisconsin we get the panic coverage from the media. It usually consists of reporters showing the empty shevles where shovels once were. Other reporters will be at the DPW salt pile showing how prepared they are along with the reporters near freewy exists measuring the snow as it accumualtes.
Another is get off the road if you can and avoid the pile ups when road conditions get bad.
Global warming is a bit@h.
HOLY CRAP!
Exactly—we had an order of shirtscoming that has been delayed. No doubt in the middle of that mess.
Great photo. Thanks for posting.
Are we giving names to ALL weather disturbances now?
“55 trucks and 11 passenger vehicles” Put them back on railroad tracks.
I just had to purchase some plank flooring. It came in boxes that were about six feet long, about 1.75 inches thick, and about 6 inches wide. Unbelievable how heavy each box was.
It got me thinking in a different way how heavy the loads must be on some of those trucks.
I can see the social distancing tickets being written up. This is a super-spreader event.
Those areas on 80 can develop “black ice” without recognition.
80 elevates, gradual black ice
And cannot be felt until the slightest braking. Too late.
Driving in snow is something you have to do. One year I was trailering a boat from Worcester back to a dealer after a boat show. Somebody abandoned a vehicle in the high speed lane of I 84. I almost hit the car, but saw a snowbank, so I moved over... A few days later, I heard it was a cause of a 10 car pileup...
Reason #10 why I live in a place with mild winters where ice and snow are a rarity.
Several years ago I had an accident while driving in the snow—on a level road going _ten_ miles an hour...
It turned out it was a sheet of ice underneath...on ice there is no safe speed.
Well, Gail is a sissy name but think of it as Rex.
