This would be a rather unique situation of a SCOTUS Justice being monitored, especially given that John Roberts and the SCOTUS oversee the FISA courts and would have to approve. That alone makes it unlikely, but if true - that's pretty ominous Unless a cell phone comm was intercepted.

You get a warrant on one guy, and if he's talking to American citizens, you can surveil them too. Because they are UPSTREAM. They use the term UMBRELLA because all the derps fall under the umbrella of the original warrant.

Roberts could be several layers removed from the original target and not have a clue. If he even has to approve each individual FISA warrant personally, which I'm not sure that he does.

This wasn't necessarily a FISA warrant. It could be either NSA spying as part of Trump's declared state of emergency in his 2018 Executive Order on foreign interference in elections. It also could have been a foreign intelligence agency spying and then handing it over to the U.S. (Snowden said they do this to get around domestice spying laws.) If foreign girls were travelling to Epstein's pedophile island, than this is quite possible. Tucker Carlson got some interesting tapes of conversations between Chris Cuomo and Michael D. Cohen. The Trump administration has no problem leaking these tapes for political advantage.

If it isn't being used against Roberts in a court of law, the warrant doesn't matter much. Would the Senate require a warrant before using such evidence against Roberts in an impeachment trial? VPOTUS would preside over that trial if necessary, and make that decision. If they have this tape, Roberts is done.
