Herridge is part of a nearly extinct breed: an actual national news reporter. She doesn’t focus on trying to sway opinions, propagandize, or present lazy, unreliable work. She’s a proper journalist, which makes me amazed that CBS actually hired her.
Somebody in the CBS newsroom must have some good journalistic chops and hiring her may be that person’s way of proving a point that they really need to get back to “That’s the way it is” aka Walter Cronkite, kind of reporting. The competition with the 24-7 cable news kinda made them soft and preachy.
