I will be thrilled if any of these "bombshells" detonate; but the decline of American culture will not be stopped by state or federal legislatures, state or federal courts, state or federal executives. The failure of our governments to protect lives, property, liberty etc. is the fault of a disinterested majority of America. Although many refer to the Roman Empire while pointing to American problems, most don't appreciate the similarities due to a hectic personal life. But no matter how hackneyed these facts become, they are real. I never lose track of Gibbon's words:
The five marks of the Roman decaying culture:
- Concern with displaying affluence instead of building wealth
- Obsession with sex and perversions of sex
- Art becomes freakish and sensationalistic instead of creative and original
- Widening disparity between very rich and very poor
- Increased demand to live off the state.
A "bombshell" disclosure that gives the GOP enough cover to bring about a contingent election in the Congress would suit me just fine, but I ain't countin' on it. Better eat your wheaties, and get ready for heavy seas.
