It is possible the business wing of the Democrats want McConnell to remain Majority Leader in order to lessen the threats from the AOC/Sanders crazies. Wall Street mostly backed Biden, as did Big Tech and Big Pharma. They don't want the Bolshevik wannabes from raising corporate taxes, pushing antitrust measures, or other antibusiness measures. It is difficult to prove that McConnell and McCarthy worked out a deal with Obama, the mastermind behind Biden/Harris. But it wouldn't surprise me.
