Can you or someone give a very simplified import of what this is all about? I tried reading the first link and eeek, cann’t grok.

It is a request for the (President eventually) to rescind an Obama era EO concerning markings of 'Controlled Unclassified info' in an effort to standardized it with the the heading 'CUI'.

Like most things Gov't it didn't streamline anything and in implementing CUI it had expanded to over two hundred categories/sub-categories to where it is unusable. It also costs too much.

DNI wants to return to For Official Use Only (FOUO). And supports the standardization of FOUO to protect this info.
